The highly successful launch of Carpe World’s new product FIRESTARTER has already created a great deal of interest in those well-known companies attending the recent One Day Discovery. Business NLP still has uncertain connotations based on some of the NLP practitioners back in the 1980s visiting US corporates with joss sticks and sandals. And over two decades later throughout the day there was no reference to hypnosis, trances and therapy… much to the relief of many senior business executives who came along with fingers crossed.
In fact nothing could have been further from this image on May 15th at Bosworth Hall. A polished introduction followed by sketches from a group of seasoned actors put much of the audience instantly at ease. Okay, the popcorn did make me think… what am I letting myself in for, but it was soon explained to my satisfaction as an introduction to a ‘one-day movie’ and I sat back and enjoyed the ride.
There was the odd technical glitch, but nothing that ruined what was an impressive and very business-based introduction to neuro-linguistic programming. There were some nice touches like the Master Practitioner who was also a top-flight magician which added to the ride and analogies. There were even some fireside chats with success stories including a British Airways pilot, Ian Willoughby in full uniform. He came over very well indeed and his story, compelling.
The amount of work that this event must have taken was self-evident by the room layout, refreshments, strong visuals and sometimes quite compelling material including a whole host of specially created video clips. What I wanted more of was to get down to the nitty gritty, though the free CD and DVD at the end helped enormously as I was able to have FireStarter part 2 at home over the weekend.
I can see the possibility of much professional jealousy around FireStarter because it is such a diversion from what is currently out there, but if other fires start being lit by other fire-starting NLP trained businesses, we will know that this event is indeed the tipping point for quality NLP in a totally business-focused style for the first time.
